If your organization or school would like to host an appearance by the Chicago “DODO” Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen and a showing of either of the documentaries below, please contact us at: Appearances@taichicago.org
“Double Victory, the ideal companion piece to “Red Tails,” is a documentary which chronicles the true events and experiences of the Tuskegee Airmen and includes historical interviews with surviving members. During a period when America was still firmly locked in the grip of segregation, the Tuskegee Airmen were the first African-American military aviators allowed to fly and fight on behalf of the United States. With their courage and perseverance, they started a chain reaction that paved the way for the America that we presently live in today.
“Who Says Black Men Can’t Fly?”, is a documentary of the Chicago Chapter of TAI (CDCTAI) which includes interviews of Chicago area Original Tuskegee Airmen as well as information on CDCTAI’s aviation programs for youth. This film was produced in 2009 by Governor’s State University as a filmmaking project for some of the University’s highly talented students. The Interviewer for the documentary was Merceded Kane; the Editor was Cory Hooper; and the Videography was done by Jeff Fisher. We are grateful to GSU for the production of this film, which addresses the question “Who Says Black Men Can’t Fly.”
